Animal Arctic seal is a representative of the family of "real seals". These animals are common polar and found in all seas that are adjacent to the Arctic ocean. Harbour seals belong to the family of predatory mammals of the group pinnipedia. Are in a relationship with the family of mustelids. In the red book are the two subspecies of Harbor seals (European seals and seal Stejneger or insular seal).
Seals inhabited the coastal waters of the Pacific and Atlantic oceans, as well as the Northern and Baltic seas. Common seal is brown, gray or reddish color and has a characteristic V-shaped nostrils. Females live in the nature 35, and males till 20 years. This Arctic animal usually inhabits rocky places where there is no access for predators. The number of seals in the global population ranges from 400 to 500 thousand. Some subspecies are under threat of complete disappearance. For example. the subspecies of Phoca vitulina are protected by the Wattage sea Agreement.
